Sneak Peek: Introduction to My New Book

You were born whole, perfect in all your glorious imperfections. But as life unfolded, you learned to leave pieces of yourself behind. This self-abandonment, or “fracturing,” a rupture in your most fundamental relationship with yourself, lies at the root of many physical, emotional, and spiritual struggles.

All of us have fractured in moments of distress, shoving aside parts of ourselves that evoke pain or unease. It is these fractures that activate and reactivate throughout our lives, shaping our interactions, experiences, and communities. They show up as mirrors in our relationships, reflecting old wounds from their point of origin. They surface as profound loneliness, restlessness, and discontent, echoing through our lives and rippling into future generations.

Internalized intolerance spreads like wildfire, distracting us from the truth of our enough-ness. To be seen and heard by others, we must first see and hear our fractured pieces. To stop seeking validation from the world, we must first validate ourselves.

The birth of Radical Self-Acceptance Therapy™ (RSAT)

In the early 2010s, a decade into my career as a psychotherapist, I noticed a troubling pattern in my work with clients. Despite initial improvements, feelings of unworthiness and dissatisfaction returned. Old wounds resurfaced, protective patterns re-engaged, and other crises would rear their heads. Like a game of whack-a-mole, no matter what we did to treat their difficulties, they would pop back up.

My personal life mirrored this same dilemma. Outwardly, I was successful. Yet inside, I still felt as I had as a teenager—alone, insecure, and not good enough. I thought I had healed the old wounds, but it turned out I had only become better at hiding them.

I still felt responsible for everyone around me, as I had most of my life, only now, as a mother, that responsibility was expected. I still questioned whether I was smart or capable enough, though I now had degrees to serve as my shield. I still self-medicated as I had in my teens and twenties, only now with wine instead of drugs.

It became clear that my healing approach was missing something essential: the root cause of our emotional difficulties. My twenty-five years as a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and EMDR practitioner taught me how trauma traps us in protective patterns that keep us isolated from the world. But the deeper truth I needed didn’t come from a textbook, it came one afternoon when I found myself collapsed on the floor of my closet.

That moment (I share in Chapter 4) gave me the most profound “a-ha” realization of my life: trauma doesn’t just separate us from others; it separates us from ourselves!

This insight became the foundation of Radical Self-Acceptance Therapy™ (RSAT): if self-abandonment lies at the core of trauma, then healing must be a radical return to ourselves and to the parts we’ve left behind. And this time, instead of trying to fix and thereby reinforcing the belief that something is broken or unwell, we stay.

Through a practical tool called the completion dialogues, we create the inner-attachment conditions our younger selves needed but never received. When this happens, emotions that were once frozen can finally run their course, and the internal chaos born from self-rejection begins to dissolve. We feel safer, lighter, clearer, and more whole, not because we’ve “fixed” ourselves, but because we’ve completed what was left unfinished. Over time, this embodied repair creates a profound relational shift, teaching the nervous system a new truth: you no longer have to abandon yourself to belong.

In the decade since integrating RSAT into my clinical practice, I have witnessed countless clients reclaim their true selves, break free from old scripts, and step into lives of empowerment and wholeness. Along the way, I noticed something even more profound taking shape: they weren’t just feeling better, their lives were transforming. New opportunities emerged, stagnation lifted, and relationships improved. Struggle gave way to a natural flow of growth and connection.

Over time, it became clear: our external world reflects our internal world. The challenges and frictions we face mirror the parts of ourselves we have yet to fully accept. By embracing all aspects of who we are, our lives naturally become easier, happier, and more purposeful.

Experiencing this firsthand, not just as theory, but as lived reality, reinforced the urgency of healing these inner fractures. If the external world is the stage where our inner conflicts play out, then creating a consciously compassionate world begins with cultivating a consciously compassionate inner landscape.

Why this book?

This book unveils the who, what, why, and most importantly the how of reclaiming the authentic pieces of yourself that have been fractured over time. It is the essential next step in your healing journey—a powerful method for repairing internal fractures and rediscovering your wholeness.

Structured for ease and real-world application, this book weaves real client stories (with names and details altered) alongside my own life experiences. Each chapter presents a unique lesson, and together, they form a comprehensive therapeutic framework. By blending psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, trauma release, somatic therapy, attachment therapy, parts therapy, and shadow work, this book serves as a powerful, holistic guide to transformation.

As you embark on this journey, you will unveil an empowered inner self and a strong, stable foundation from which to engage with the world. Along the way, you will find relief from unprocessed traumas and outdated protective mechanisms that have silently held you back until now. No longer will you feel the need to prove your worth or defend your individuality. Instead, you will naturally attract people and experiences that align with your authenticity and self-acceptance. And no longer will you search for what feels missing because you will finally realize, with unwavering certainty, that you are, and have always been, whole.

You belong here. Whether you are new to therapy or an experienced counselor, whether you’ve faced significant traumas or only minor challenges, whether you find yourself in the midst of a turbulent period, seeking peace and calm, or ready to confront and heal old emotional baggage, know that you belong here. This book is your guide and companion on the path to self-discovery and healing.

To engage with and apply the powerful approach presented in this book, no previous therapy experience is required, only curiosity and a readiness for personal growth. However, if you encounter a significant level of anxiety that pulls you away from yourself, I encourage you to put this book on hold. Instead, focus on further regulating your nervous system before returning to this material. Your well-being and comfort are paramount, and the book will be here when you’re ready to continue your journey.

A love story

The teachings in this book reveal more than a method for releasing trauma and repairing your relationship with yourself, they are also a love story. A story of reconnection with a long-lost love, one that you were inadvertently separated from during a turbulent time in your life. Over the years you may have convinced yourself that this love served no purpose, or that life was simpler without it. Perhaps you thought it was slowing you down, compromising your goals, or just hurting too much. But deep within you, in the quiet corners of your mind, you always knew that this love was important, that you couldn’t truly be whole without it, and that the time would come for the two of you to reunite and heal.

May this book ease your suffering, deepen your self-compassion, and ignite your authenticity.

With love,

Tami
